Didn’t look Great this is the biggest weakness of this team the middle bullpen guys

Who Should Be the Backup Catcher?

Robinzon Diaz

Major league stats-

G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG
3 10 0 3 0 0 0 1 3 0 2 1 0 .300 .300 .300

Obviously you can not judge him by this but his spring training stats look good 26 at bats and 11 hits 8 runs 1 home run and a .423 average he also has 0 errors 1 passed ball

Jason Jaramillo

Major league stats-

NONE

Well I can’t say much about him because I Don’t know much about him with no major league experience thats a minus but J Russell does know him from the minors but in spring training hes had 27 at bats and only 4 hits thats a .148 average

Looks like Robinzon Diaz Should be the back up though he probably and hopefully wont get much playing time I mean I don’t hate the guy I just want our Starter Ryan Doumit to stay healthy and perform well. but i hope Robinzon Diaz does good when he does play

Well until next time,

State Of Dem Pirates: Infield

Here is my first entry I’d just like to take this and express my opinion on each area of this 2009 Pirates team. I would like to first say this team looks alot different  and  I’m very optimistic what else can I be. This first entry of State of Dem Pirates will be the offense of the infield

Infield- Offense

Catcher- Ryan Doumit

Last years stats:  Average- .318 HR-15 RBI-69 SB-2

A very solid offensive threat has power should be clean up and I am looking forward to see him have even better stats than last year.

First Base: Adam LaRoche

Last years stats: Average- .270 HR- 25 RBI-85 SB-1

Wow what can I say about Adam. Well first, I’d like to say I think he is a real classy guy and I believe that is what you can build a team around If he could just start out hot instead of his regular 2 month slump he could be a major contributor and threat i mean look at his stats and thats with that regular slump just imagine.

Second Base: Freddy Sanchez

Last years stats: Average- .271 HR- 9 RBI-52 SB-0

Freddy is a great average hitter remember he won the batting title. He was injured last year which hurt but he currently looks like the Freddy of old and that feels good.

Short Stop: Jack Wilson

Last years stats: Average- .272 HR- 1 RBI-22 SB-2

Very disappointing year for Jack he only appeared in 87 games  with a healthy year we should see him get back on track not the most outstanding player but reliable and classy like I said before thats a good trait

Third Base; Andy LaRoche

Last years stats: Average- .166 HR- 5 RBI-18 SB-2

Andy Looks like he has alot of potential although he played poorly with his little time he had in Pittsbugh last year so far in Spring training hes looked good.

Look for the next entry soon to be about the Outfield and thanks for reading
